Welcome to the latest edition of the Proycon Herald, where the news is always served with a big fat salt lick. Topping today’s news, it appears that the Spartans have gone full circle. According to translators, Spartans leader Chad appears to have countermanded his initial directive to disband the clan. Apparently, Red Pirate’s actions were not as final as he first thought. The negative publicity and all-round bad feeling surrounding the demise of the Spartans apparently prompted him to reconsider, as did the subsequent implosion of the dreaded Immortals, to whom Chad had initially pledged his allegiance. It remains to be seen what will come of the Alliance’s attack on the Spartans’ last remaining system of Omicron Gamma. No date has yet been set, and analysts are not ruling out the possibility of a future détente between the feuding clans.
For the time being, it appears the impure on Procyon have been spared from the expected Immortal onslaught. The conquest of the impure, which was announced just last Tuesday, appears to have fizzled before it even got out of the starting gate. Whether the war will be picked up under new management is yet to be determined, but for the time being at least, we citizens of Procyon can breathe easier.
In other news, Lionsgate Mafia has officially changed its name to the Sith Lords. Asked to comment on the reasoning behind the move, 33comander replied simply, “You just don’t know the power of the Dark Side.” He then hopped into his special edition TIE-fighter and sped away, saying something to the effect of “Yes, my master. He will join us or die.”.
The Beast of Cortez has been busy beasting. Sources indicate that his beastly activities will soon be exported to the system of Chugoku, Procyon’s richest system. Asked to comment on what prompted the move, the Beast replied by eating our correspondent. Still, when one connects the dots, one begins to see a pattern. Cobalt Squadron purchases Chugoku. Dominion declares war on Alliance. Beast joins Dominion. Mank announces two new clans have joined the Alliance. Beast attacks Chugoku. Might the Cobalt Squadron be the newest clan to join the Alliance? Your guess is as good as ours.
Controversy erupted on the Procyon Forums this week when Sea Dragon announced the arrival of his new clan, called the Sirius Special Forces, or SSF for short. The clan’s mission is to combat piracy, terrorism and lawlessness, but the announcement was quickly derailed when challengers accused Sea Dragon of being an imposter, claiming he was none other than the recently departed Tatsu. Sea Dragon denied the accusations, claiming to be Tatsu’s brother, but critics were not satisfied, and are insisting on fingerprint analysis, retina scans and a urine sample, just to be certain. “You expect us to believe this tripe?” critics demanded. “Surely you can’t be serious.”
“Not just serious,” retorted Sea Dragon. “Sirius Special Forces.”
In sporting news, the Children of Eridu have released more information concerning their upcoming games. The announcement was timed to coincide with their purchase of the Omega-5 system, where the games will take place. The C-o-E gave up title to Omega-11, putting that system back on the market. The games themselves will include 1-on-1 duels, in a playoff format. A maximum of 16 participants will be entered, and four rounds of combat will ensue, with the final round being a showdown between the last two contenders. Clans are encouraged to send their best champion to represent them. The prize purse was announced to be 5 million credits, put forth by the Children. Following the duels, a free-for-all has been planned, and the evening’s events will then be capped off with a night of carousing at the Freeport 5 bar (we’ve added security to ensure Juarez checks his dagger at the door the next time he comes). Unfortunately, the Children themselves will not be able to participate, as they are presumably under age.
Speaking of Juarez, another toe arrived in the mail this morning, suggesting that Miguel Benitez has yet to pay the OuTcAsT ransom for his son. We are continuing to monitor the situation, and will endeavor to keep citizens apprised of what is happening.
That is all. For the Herald, this is war correspondent Ravenwood, signing off.
