Clan Registration
To begin using clan-specific features on Procyon such as the clan chat channel, system ownership, and other such things you need to start by registering a clan on the server - this is done through the /clan command. Using this command while you are not a member or leader of an existing clan will display information on how to create a new clan.
The syntax for creating a new clan is /clan create [clan name] [password] [email]. Using /clan create ProcyonRocks 12345 Zephon@ProcyonServer.com, for example, would register a clan named ProcyonRocks with a password of 12345, and an associated email address of Zephon@ProcyonServer.com.
Note that a valid email address is required for clan registration - they are used to contact you if - for example - a system you own comes under attack by another clan, as well as for things such as clan message notifications.
In-Game Clan Options
When you've created or joined a clan on the server, using the /clan command will display a list of sub-commands (with associated usage help) available to you, depending on your status within the clan. The clan leader has access to all commands, whereas standard members have access to very little unless given additional permissions by the clan leader.
Site-Based Clan Options
In addition to the clan features accessed in-game through the /clan command, Procyon also features a number of site-based clan management features. To begin, click the Log In link found on the top-right corner of the site and enter the name and password you specified when creating your clan. Note that data is only sent from the game server to the site every four hours, so depending on the time of the last transfer (which is displayed on the bottom of all clan-related pages), it may take a while for you to be able to log in.
Upon successfully logging in to your clan account, you'll be presented with a page showing your clan's roster, and any additional information that you've previously entered into the Clan Info section. From here are are able to view a list of the systems currently under your clan's control (My Systems), view messages sent to your clan from other clans and/or the server administrators (My Messages), send messages to other clans (Message a Clan), view the page you are currently on (My Clan), or edit your clan information (Edit My Clan).
System Ownership
When logged in to a clan account, viewing a system on the ownership board will present a number of options, depending on the system's current status. Unowned systems will give you the option to purchase them, while systems currently under another clan's control will present you with the options to either negotiate a purchase of the system with its current owner, or to attack the system and attempt to take it by force. All money used for purchasing a system (be it an unowned system, or a system purchased from another clan) is drawn from the personal funds on your clan's leader.
When a system is first obtained (be it through a purchase or attack) it cannot be attacked or sold for seven days. A maximum of three systems can be owned by a clan at any one time, only the first of which may be purchased as an unowned system - additional systems must be obtained through interaction with another clan, be it peaceful or otherwise. Clans must have a minimum of 4 *unique* and active members to own a system.
When another clan has initiated an action (either a request to purchase your system peacefully, or an attack) upon a system under your control, you have five days to respond to it by going to the page for that system and selecting from the options available to you. Failure to respond within the allotted time will result in losing your claim to the system.
System Upgrades
When you control a system, you have the option to purchase a private base for your clan in it. These bases feature discounted equipment, and can only be docked upon by members of your clan, and any allies you might have. In addition, purchasing a clan base improves your system's ability to generate income, and enables the construction of additional upgrades that carry with them various effects, some of which add useful functions to your system and/or base, while others further increase your system's economic potential.
A listing of the upgrades available and/or installed on each system can be seen on the system ownership page for that particular system. Clicking an upgrade title will take you to a page with a brief description of the upgrade and the effect it has.
System Income
Every week, clans earn money for maintaining control of their systems. Under normal conditions systems don't generate too much cash, however this is changed when upgrades such as clan bases and mining ships are taken into consideration - creating a useful and steady stream of income for clan use. The amount of money each system earns is listed on that system's information page, with upgrade pages showing the amount they add. System payment money is added directly to the character marked as the clan's leader.
System Battles
System battles are a core component of clan culture on Procyon. Did someone call you a mean name? Spit in your general direction? Make a potentially offensive, and/or challenging gesture toward you? Look at, or attempt to speak with you?
Attack their system - they probably deserved it, and if they don't yet they probably will eventually!
To initiate an attack on a system, simply navigate to the detail page of a system that is owned by another clan and click 'attack' - it's that easy. The clan that you've thrown the gauntlet down upon has five days to respond to your challenge before the system in question - and all others that they might own - are released from their control and reset to unowned status.
In the event that the clan being attacked decides to defend their system, communication must be established between the two clan leaders - be it via clan messages, on the forum, or in the server for a time and date of battle between the two opposing forces. Once a time has been settled upon, both leaders should immediately contact the server administrators to confirm the time, and to ensure that they will be available to oversee the battle. If a time and date cannot be negotiated within ten days of the initial attack due to attempts at stalling and/or assorted foot-dragging the administration will step in and assign a date a date for the battle. All system battles require at least one observing administrator to be present.
System battles themselves are broken into a series of best three of five last man standing battles between the two clans in question and any allies/mercenaries that either may have brought with them. All players participating in a system battle must be grouped with the members of their respective side, and upon being killed in combat must remain docked until the current round is declared over by an administrator. Members of the defending team are to be stationed at a base or planet of their chosing within the disputed system, with the attacking team stationed out of a single station of their choosing in a neighboring system.
Note that all upgrades are removed from a system after a successful attack.
Abuse
Abuse of system ownership features will not be tolerated. Creative exploitation of apparent loopholes will be frowned upon greatly. Attempting to 'cheat' in system battles is not smiled upon. Blatant attempts at delaying or dragging out system battle time/date negotiations beyond a reasonable time frame will result in blunt trauma.
Consequences of abusive or otherwise exploitive behavior depend solely on the administration's opinion of the severity of the incident in question and may include anything from forfeiting of all owned systems and upgrades to server bans.
If you are concerned in any way that a tactic you are considering may be considered abusive, please contact an administrator prior to utilizing it - we will be more than happy to provide feedback on your plan, as well as tell you if its utilization will result in your swift and untimely removal from the server.
"There's no rule against it!" is not a valid defense for acts of pure unrelenting douchery.
Players may only operate one clan at any time, unless additional clans are utilized solely for role playing/etc purposes and are not utilized in any way for system ownership. Clans that consist primarily or entirely of members from one or more other clans may not utilize any system ownership related features or actions. | | | | |
